Byte opened July 13, 2026, at 8620 Delmar, inside the Avenir apartments on the University City side of the Loop. Owners Garam and Sal Suleiman grew the brand from meal prep into a Levantine breakfast-and-lunch café. St. Louis Magazine noted shakshuka, falafel, mezze, and Park Avenue Coffee.
This is west of Blueberry Hill: newer housing, a ground-floor café, and Wash U a short hop east. The Delmar Loop takes its name from the streetcar turnaround. Joe Edwards started the Walk of Fame here in 1989. A daytime café is useful on streets where people already walk.
University City was founded in 1906. South of Delmar, toward Clayton, the houses live more like an inner-ring suburb. Living on Delmar and living near Delmar are different purchases.
