Art Hill is the grass under the Saint Louis Art Museum. In winter people sled it. In decent weather they sit on it until the building goes dark.
The museum is the Palace of Fine Arts from the 1904 World's Fair, one of the few fair buildings meant to last. Forest Park opened in 1876. The Grand Basin sits below the hill. Kingshighway is the east edge. Skinker is the west. Lindell is the north. I-64 cuts the south.
The west side of the Central West End can put the museum in a real walk if you will cross Kingshighway at a light you already know. Skinker-DeBaliviere walks to the park, often to the basin or the west gate first. South of 64, Dogtown uses the park more often by car. Clayton and University City west of Skinker are county. Same park. Different tax bill.
